Overview
This programme offers a chance to study independently and develop a broad range of skills such as report writing, communication and teamwork skills. These skills and the mandatory and specialist units studied will provide you with the knowledge and expertise to work successfully as an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer.

- Unit 4 Managing a Professional Engineering Project
- Unit 8 Mechanical Principles
- Unit 9 Materials, Properties and Testing
- Unit 19 Electrical and Electronic Principles
- Unit 22 Electronic Circuits and Devices
Entry Qualifications
Elevated Knowledge will recruit to this programme with integrity. It will ensure applicants have the prior qualification and/or experience, considering whether this profile indicates that they have the potential to achieve the qualification.
Typical entry qualifications are:
- National Certificate or Diploma in Engineering,
- Advanced Diploma in Engineering
- 2 A level passes in relevant subject.
An interview will be carried out prior to acceptance onto the programme to establish suitability for entry. Experience will be taken into account for mature applicants.
Course Duration
The course runs for 2 years on a part-time learning basis.
Course Assessment
Assessment will be by means of assignments, projects, presentations and time controlled assignments. All the above will provide evidence against the published learning outcomes and assessment criteria which will be discussed in detail by the delivery team.
Progression
Successful completion of the course will enable learners to progress to a Higher National Diploma or Degree in Engineering. The BTEC Higher National have been developed with career progression and recognition by professional bodies in mind. SETA is accredited by the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE).
