Elevated Knowledge Supports Heaton Norris Corps Salvation Army Christmas Toys Appeal
This December, learners and staff at Elevated Knowledge came together once again to support the Heaton Norris Corps Salvation Army through a festive and meaningful Christmas Toys Appeal. Led by organiser Sophie Saxon, our centre collected an impressive range of toys and gifts, all donated with kindness and a genuine desire to help local families who may be struggling during the festive season.
On Wednesday 3rd December, we were delighted to welcome Major Susan Dean to our training centre. She met with Sophie and several of our apprentices, who were eager to help. Major Dean kindly expressed her heartfelt gratitude in a message sent shortly afterwards:
“Thank you so much for all of the toys and gifts that you donated.
Please pass on our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.
Hope you have an amazing Christmas.
We have a Carol Service at the Salvation Army in Cheadle Heath, Dec 21st, 10.30am.If you could make it, it would be fab to see you.”
Her words reflect the spirit of warmth and community that this appeal inspires each year. Our apprentices demonstrated exceptional kindness, teamwork, and consideration, qualities we are immensely proud to see embedded within the culture of Elevated Knowledge.
A sincere thank you goes out to everyone who donated and supported this initiative. Your generosity will brighten Christmas for many children and families in need, showing once again what can be achieved when a community comes together with heart and purpose.
The Salvation Army’s Lifesaving Work Across the UK
While the Christmas Toys Appeal is a wonderful seasonal initiative, it represents just one small part of the Salvation Army’s extraordinary work throughout the year. Across the UK, including here in Stockport. The organisation is a vital support network for individuals and families facing a wide variety of challenges.
Supporting Families Facing Hardship
For generations, the Salvation Army has been a lifeline for those experiencing financial strain, homelessness, unemployment, or crisis. Their teams provide food parcels, emergency shelter, clothing, warm spaces, and emotional support. During the winter months, when pressures increase significantly, the need for these services becomes even more urgent.
The Christmas Toy Appeal ensures that no child goes without a gift on Christmas morning, but their work continues long after the decorations come down. Year-round, the Salvation Army ensures the most vulnerable members of our communities are not forgotten.
Offering Help Without Judgment
One of the most remarkable aspects of the Salvation Army is its commitment to helping anyone who needs support, without judgement or barriers. They offer addiction recovery assistance, debt and budgeting advice, pastoral care, community cafés, and safe spaces for those needing a listening ear.
They work quietly and compassionately, providing dignity and understanding in moments when people need it most.
Rebuilding Lives Through Community Outreach
The Salvation Army’s outreach work is broad and impactful. Their services include:
-
Homeless outreach and emergency accommodation
-
Youth clubs and mentoring programmes
-
Food banks and community kitchens
-
Domestic abuse support
-
Emergency response during local crises
-
Befriending services to combat loneliness
Loneliness can affect anyone, at any time of year, but it is often most deeply felt at Christmas. The Salvation Army works tirelessly to alleviate this, sometimes simply with a warm smile, a supportive conversation, or a friendly face at a community gathering. These small acts of kindness can make an enormous difference.
A Heartfelt Thank You from Elevated Knowledge
At Elevated Knowledge, we are proud to play even a small part in supporting such a vital organisation. The response from our learners and staff this year has been exceptional and reflects the strong community spirit at the heart of our training centre.
Your donations will bring joy, comfort, and hope to families who otherwise might be facing a very difficult festive season. We couldn’t be prouder of everyone who contributed.
If you would like to make your own donation, the Heaton Norris Salvation Army will be accepting items until 12th December 2025.
Together, we can continue to support the incredible work of the Salvation Army and help make Christmas a little brighter for those who need it most.
